Carnivorous Pitcher Plant

Update, April 20, 2014:
The bud was opened a little more Easter Sunday!

________________________

Hello, everyone:

I have a carnivorous plant which has had its ups and downs since last spring but it did survive two of our winter freezes.  I forgot to bring it indoors those two times out of our 33 freezes.

As soon as I saw new leaves (pitchers), there was this stalk with a bud which grew.   I didn't know this made a flower.    I have never owned or seen one of these plants until last year and this is the only one I have so far.   I want to find another or propagate this one when it is bigger.

These photos were snapped April 5, 10 and 18, 2014.

These can be tricky to make, but manageable.  I've made the grey colored one before and it was a blast, once I got the hang of it.

The charts which go with these are on the above weblink, next to the flower you want to make.

I haven't used yarn to make one of these, but I imagine that a nice (non-fuzzy) yarn would work up well in one of these patterns.   :)

Good luck and HAVE FUN!!!    :)

Afrodite Colar (Aphrodite Collar) My New Project Before Christmas 2011

I am working on a new project right before Christmas this year.  It's something I haven't tried before and I think I'm going to enjoy this challenge.

I bought a pattern from Silvia called the, Afrodite Colar.  It's in Portuguese and I've been wearing out the Babelfish page on yahoo this weekend.

Basically, it's a floral collar which can probably double as a neck warmer, scarf or a thick necklace:

It's also featured at Miss Flor's crochet blog:

I settled on using a size F Clover hook for the green necklace/leaf part and a size C Clover hook for my flowers.  These flowers pictured are not from the pattern, just some that I had made up before holding 2 strands of size 10 thread together.  The green necklace/leaf part is also made holding 2 strands of size 10 thread together.

Here are some progress pictures:
