Hello everyone,
I just love filet crochet patterns and this is one if the prettiest ones I have seen. It is actually a set for a chair which has the piece for the head and the two arm rest pieces.
These crochet pieces for chairs were once referred to as "antimacassars", since decades ago men would put macassar oil in their hair. Hence, antimacassars kept this oil residue off of the chair. the arm rest pieces protected those parts of the chair as well. You would remove and wash the little chair pieces instead.

This original page went off the internet years ago and it is archived at the Way back Machine's cached pages, but those pictures are known to disappear after a while and so that is why I am posting the charts here instead of linking to them.
But click the above link to go to the page and get your base foundation chain, materials list, etcetera.
And as always, Happy Crocheting!! :)

It is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Natalia! Thank you also for visiting and for leaving a comment! :) :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous antimacassars, Lee Ann. I'm Dawn and I've just found your blog (web site?) through Pink Rose Crochet, and I love the patterns you provide for free here. I'm from the Deep South (LA and MS) and I just love the crinoline ladies, dresses, gentlemen, flowers, etc.
ReplyDeleteI am disabled and on SSDI, so I don't have the funds for purchased patterns. Thank you, Lee Ann, and keep up the beautiful work!
