A "Workhorse"; They Don't Make Them Like This Anymore!

Was thinking this morning as I was cooking up a serving of grits in my microwave, that they don't build them like this anymore.

This microwave built-in oven is original with the house.  The label says that it was manufactured March 1983.  (Whirlpool Model RM235PXL-0)

To set the time, you have to press in and twist the Minutes / Seconds timer knob until you get the counter to scroll up to whatever time you need.

Nowadays, it's just pressing the numbers on a digital keypad.  I've had at least 3 microwave ovens over the years and they all stop working after about 5 to 7 years.

I hardly use my digital portable microwave (I have 2 microwaves in the kitchen). Everyone else likes the newer portable.

As antiquated as the 1983 microwave is, I love it and it's the one I primarily use.  There's no rotating dish and that's a "plus" for the portable, but I like the simplicity of the control panel.

Just another thought for the day around here.......     :)
